Most early mistakes come from buying a rod that feels exciting but does not fix your current bottleneck.

Early game

Spend to remove friction

Your first upgrades should make the fishing loop more stable or noticeably faster.

Stay on starter catches until you can reel consistently. A better rod cannot fully compensate for missed fish.

Carbon Rod is a practical first upgrade because it improves Luck and Max Kg at a reachable price.

If a location mostly gives tiny catches, move once your rod and cash can support the next route.

Code rewards can reduce early friction, but they should not replace a stable money route.

Redeem stable codes first, then test watchlist codes. Treat every code reward as a way to shorten one upgrade step, not as the whole plan.
